Tim has fond memories of his NuNu pan-frying zucchini blossoms when he was growing up. This year, we have two prolific zucchini plants in our spring garden. Today, we picked some blossoms. Sue washed them to get the ants out. Then, Tim pan fried them for appetizers. NuNu would be so proud!

Pan Fried Zucchini Blossoms

Be sure to pick the male flowers which have stems — females are attached to the squash (see photo below). Harvest flowers once they have just opened and use them as soon as possible.

Beat two eggs in a shallow bowl. Mix two cups of flour with salt and pepper in a shallow bowl. Cut the stems of zucchini flowers to about one inch.

Dip several blossoms in the egg, let most of it drain away. Then, roll in flour, shaking off excess. Fry a few minutes until crisp and golden brown on both sides. Drain on paper towels, season with salt and serve hot. Enjoy!
